Children under 12 are recommended to be accompanied by a parent or guardian to Canada; parents are free to explore or arrange their own schedule while the child is in class. During the programme, certified teachers and assistants supervise all children. Students aged 13 and above may attend independently with a homestay arrangement — please consult us for a suitable plan.
Yes, lunch is not included in the programme fee. Students typically bring their own lunch or may purchase it at restaurants near the school campus. Lunch on field trip days also needs to be arranged independently; teachers will guide students to restaurants near the destination. If there are any dietary allergies or special requirements, please advise us at the time of enrolment and we will communicate this to the school board.
All homestays are officially vetted and certified by Richmond School District International Education, including background checks, home environment assessments, and regular reviews. Homestay families use English as their primary language, helping students continue to immerse themselves in English outside of class. The school board provides a 24-hour emergency contact hotline. Sky Lantern also offers Chinese-language support in Taiwan and Hong Kong time zones — parents are welcome to contact us at any time.
Yes, students who complete the programme receive an official certificate issued by Richmond School District, stating the course name, learning hours, and attendance record. As a certificate from an official public school board, it carries considerable credibility and can form part of the child's English learning portfolio.
